Types of disputes mediated and resolved include divorce, family, estates, real estate, business contracts, partnerships and personal injury.

Performed mediation services and attorney services for law firms, businesses and individuals, in matters involving real estate, divorce and family, employment, contracts, the environment, consumer finance and personal injury.

Checkpoint Investigations, Inc.; Phoenix, AZ 10/96 - 12/98

Co-founded the company, and acted as vice president, handling marketing, public relations, and operations management. Counseled parents and employers regarding protection of children, workplace safety, and liability exposure. Conducted background checks on prospective employees and childcare providers.

Operated law office and practiced civil litigation, specializing in personal injury, insurance coverage and other contract disputes. Personal injury matters included automobile collisions, highway design and maintenance, sexual assault, premises liability, product liability and malpractice. Counseled clients, negotiated and settled cases, conducted mediations and arbitrations.

Begam, Lewis, Marks & Wolfe; Phoenix, AZ 4/89 - 3/94

Handled all aspects of complex plaintiffs personal injury and insurance litigation practice, including cases involving dram shop liability, highway design, UM/UIM coverage cases, assault, product liability, and vehicle collisions. Counseled injured clients and their families, negotiated and settled cases, conducted arbitrations, and handled trials and mediations.

Squire, Sanders & Dempsey; Phoenix, AZ 10/86 - 3/89

Organized partnerships and corporations, conducted trustees sales of commercial properties worth over $75,000,000, and managed the leasing and resale of those properties. Directed the issuance of over $250,000,000 in municipal bonds secured by deeds of trust or leasehold interests. Activities included client counseling, negotiations, deal closings, research and drafting of complex contracts and closing documents.

Attended writing and art courses at Phoenix Community College, participated in numerous writing workshops, and wrote an unpublished adult novel. Authored over four hundred comic strip episodes.

Completed stand up comedy training at Scottsdale Community College, and performed in numerous comedy shows around the Phoenix metropolitan area.
